Lately I’ve been craving time in nature, far away from city lights and constant noise. Some place that most city people would get to and say…umm, what do we do here?

I wanted to lie on the ground at night and look up to see a sky full of stars.

Something happens when I lie down in a pitch dark field of grass and see nothing but the sparkle of stars so far away.

Stars have this amazing effect on me like nothing else. It’s when I feel the most vulnerable and the most present.

They remind me of exactly where I am, and in the case of last weekend, that was in a wide open grassy field outside our tiny Airbnb farm house in Hudson, NY looking up at the night sky that was painted in stars.

In that moment I wasn't worrying about my to-do list once I got back to the city. I wasn't worrying about work. I wasn't thinking about really anything else but those stars…and the fact that I’m literally a speck on a floating planet miles and miles and miles and miles away.

I hadn’t been that present in awhile.

Which got me thinking…is it possible to feel this way back in the city? During normal day life?

Totally and completely relaxed while cars honk all around me, or when the internet keeps failing on me right when I'm about to send out my weekly newsletter?

To be that present? Maybe not, but to certainly be more present than I would normally be walking down the street in NYC.

So in honor of a truly fabulous weekend away from the crazy, this weeks video offers five helpful tips that I’ve found help bring similar feelings of calm and ‘present-ness’ to my everyday life.

Once you’ve had a chance to watch, I’d love to know your perspective.

Specifically, I want to know what are some of the things that distract you from being more present in your life?

Here’s why this matters:

If you take the time to recognize these distractions and stresses, you can take the time to change them, or at least develop better ways to cope with them. Let's face it, some stresses will never go away...that's just life!

Be present with your distractions so you can be present with your life.

With so much gratitude,

Taylor

P.S. If you’ve got a family member or friend who could benefit from these tips - share this post. It may be the motivation they need to live a more present and happy life.
